In celebration of “Wine Enthusiast” magazine giving Six Sigma Ranch’s 2008 Sauvignon Blanc, Michael’s Vineyard 90 points, photographer Eli Pitta captured the vintage on canvas.

LOWER LAKE – Last week was a great week at Six Sigma Ranch. The February issue of “Wine Enthusiast” magazine awarded Six Sigma Ranch and Winery a score of 90 points for its 2008 Sauvignon Blanc, Michael’s Vineyard.

Simultaneously, Six Sigma Ranch was notified that they also had won three medals including a silver medal for their 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon in the San Francisco Wine Competition, the largest wine competition of American wines in the world.

Over five days, 63 professional wine experts tasted and evaluated a world-record breaking number of entries.

“It was a great week for us,” said Kaj Ahlmann, the owner of Six Sigma Ranch and Winery. “We won three medals at a prestigious competition where over 4,900 wines were entered. Then to find out that we received a score of 90 from the Wine Enthusiast tells me our wines are right on track. This is a fantastic way to start the new year!”

This past year Six Sigma Ranch realized several milestones.

In April, they expanded their tasting room hours to be open daily. During the Lake County Wine Adventure in July nearly 800 guests visited the ranch and in September Six Sigma hosted the first-ever Lake County wine competition The People’s Choice Awards, sponsored by the Lake County Winery Association.

The competition was a huge success: 168 wines were entered from 56 wineries and nearly 300 people attended at the public judging at Six Sigma Ranch.

Ahlmann invites everyone to come by the ranch and have a complimentary wine tasting of Six Sigma award winning wines.

Six Sigma Ranch is located at 13372 Spruce Grove Road in Lower Lake and is open every day from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
