TOAST OF THE TOWN 2010 | Chicago

Wine Enthusiast Magazine presents a music, wine and restaurant extravaganza to benefit the Field Museum Education Program on May 6 at the Field Museum,1400 S. Lake Shore Drive. While listening to the sounds of live jazz, taste 500 premium wines and spirits from more than 70 domestic and international producers. Savor the culinary creations from many of the best Chicago restaurants, all in the glamorous setting of the Field Museum. The event is sponsored by the Wall Street Journal. Local cooking classes

THE REGAL RABBIT | Chesterton

The Regal Rabbit, 528 Indian Boundary Road, a gourmet kitchen and home store, offers cooking classes at the Corner Cookery. All classes start at 6:30 p.m. (unless stated otherwise) and last about two hours. All classes subject to cancellation or rescheduling. Registration for all classes is required. All classes include a 10 percent discount on all merchandise purchased on the day of the class.

U COOK CLASSES | Merrillville

“Hands On” cooking classes created by Chef John Rooney, who previously owned the Culinary Connection in Valparaiso, is now at U Cook, 5150 E. U.S. 30 across from Southlake Plaza. Learn to prepare foods to perfection and then enjoy the finished meal. All weekday classes are at 6:30 p.m. weekdays and Saturday at 11 a.m. All classes are $40 per person. Children classes are $30.

WORLD KITCHEN IN THE GALLERY 37 | Chicago

Cooking classes are offered as part of the World Kitchen learning series by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, and will be held at the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, 66 E. Randolph St. Admission is $30 and registration is required. Weekday classes start at 6 p.m., Saturday at 11 a.m. Please wear nonskid shoes and bring your apron.
